a winter's walk

Last week, it snowed. On the Monday that school was cancelled, my dad and I spent the afternoon traipsing  around the farm across the road with Sally, looking for deer and finding rabbit prints and chatting with neighbours. It was bloody freezing, but beautiful.

It's been a cold winter so far; I've written so many words on how this is the kind of cold that sinks into your bones and turns your numb hands as heavy as lead and weights down on your heart too. I haven't blogged much this month; I've been hiding away from Jack Frost in cafes and cinemas and the confine of my bedroom. But things are beginning to thaw.

And even in this cold, things are not without beauty. This walk, this fresh snow and the silence and the sky, was so beautiful. I made a vow, with the moon as witness, to try and keep hold of these moments of beauty for the times when I will doubtless need them again.

  5. I probably comment this on every post you write, but you are a never ending source of inspiration. It's hard to find bloggers that write posts worth reading (most of the time I just skim through the pictures.) But I would never skip a word you write.

    1. Thanks Tasya! I use a Canon 550D, which is an entry-level DSLR.
